Golden Gate Buffet & Takeout

The original Golden Gate Restaurant was established in the 1950’s by George Fong, near the four-corners in downtown Whitby, on Brock Street at Dundas. Through hard work and commitment, George created a legacy that still exists today. His sons, Danny, Ming (Eddy) and Bill Fong, along with his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Fong, followed George’s footsteps and became the next generation owner-managers.

The four of them were life-long dedicated restaurateurs. In 1989, they established the Golden Gate Buffet and Takout Restaurant at the Five Points Mall, at Ritson and Taunton Roads. At the time, the all-you-can-eat concept buffet was an innovation to Oshawa and the Durham Region.

The Buffet grew in popularity and became a favourite in the community. For over two decades, the Golden Gate Buffet Restaurant has received numerous Readers Choice Awards for its excellence. We thank our customers for their loyal support.
